Measa Kuhlers

I am an artist living and working in Colorado Springs, CO. I studied at the University of Iowa, where I earned a B.A. in Art and Art History. I work in a variety of fine art media and styles, including painting, drawing, calligraphy, chalk art, graffiti art, and pottery.  Recently I have also been learning to create digital artwork.

What Makes My Work Special

Craftsmanship

Artistry is as much a craft as an act of creation. I combine talent and expertise to produce work of high quality that I am proud to put my name on. Attention to detail, accuracy, and care are important aspects of my work.

Physical Construction

In addition to creating my own art, I have years of professional experience framing and hanging art. I work with my hands, and I use them to build, repair, and design. As I create, I take into account the physical space in which my work will reside.

Exploration

I like working with others to explore, experiment, and brainstorm. Considering possibilities, making connections, and finding new ways to connect what already exists are large components of creation. I also enjoy tackling problems, and I find that constraints lead to creativity.

Strategy

Before undertaking a project, I strategize and make careful plans. I have an eye for color and design, and prior to setting pen to paper, I make deliberate choices with regards to the finished product. I undertake my work with intent, to meticulously produce results that bring the visions of myself and others to reality.
